They were doing some construction when we were there. It was a nice facility, and it seemed to be clean; they just need to have a better entrance to get into their facility. Hearth and Home was very good, clean, and well maintained. They had a lot of activities and an activities director.

My aunt moved into Hearth & Home Senior Assisted Living at Vandalia. Meals are included, it's a one-price all inclusive, it only has 45 units, and it's assisted living. Having my family member stay at Hearth and Home of Vandalia has been the best decision our family and I have made since we began assisting our loved one two years ago. Our family member loves the facility and is constantly bragging about the excellent care he receives.
This was our first pick but my loved one would not have been able to afford this community so we were not able to go with this community. Facility Care Level
I know that my mom enjoyed her time while she was there. This facility has a very well trained staff that knew how to handle my mom properly when she would get upset . No matter what time of day i would stop by to visit my mom, the staff was always busy helping residents; asking them if they needed help with anything or talking to them. The residents have alot of activities available to them which my mom enjoyed very much - especially the day they got to go on a tour of a winery!!!!
Everyone there is very friendly, attentive, and respectful of the people living their and family members . They are always working to engage everyone one is as much activities as they would like... Activity Center
So far they’ve been the best of the places we've toured / used for a respite stay. And my loved one is on his second stay with them. The most significant difference is they have a nurse in an administrative position who can help supervise things. She understands things much better than a salesperson.
Staff is caring, and compassionate, and shows respect for the individuals. Have lots of activities and they work to engage... Yes, Hearth & Home At Vandalia offers assisted living services. The staff is more personal with the residents and tey to build a relationship with them. There is very low turnover so my loved one knows the staff and is comfortable with them. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

She likes it there and is satisfied without any issues at all. Does not insure that patients are clean or that wounds are taken care of promptly. Do NOT come to this facility if the resident can't handle their own affairs. My mother was not kept clean and had issues with staff not promptly treating wounds. We couldn't have found a more wonderful place. Anything you can share will help other families choose the perfect community. I really did not like that place because we felt kind of rushed in and out. For one, when we drove up, you have to step up to get into the place. A lot of the people are in wheelchairs, so you can't go up step to get in, and that was a turnoff. The person who showed us around seemed to be into rushing us.
